FINAL PROJECT
"What project was your most challenging and why?"
My most difficult project was the figurative project because I chose to sculpt a person, and getting all the details on the body was complete misery. You can tell it's a person, but it was nearly impossible to get every little single detail on it.

"If you were to come up with another project/lesson in the class, what would it be and why?"
I would probably create something that's functional, like a bowl or a mug. Something that I can actually use, instead of something that I'm not gonna know where to put it in my house. Like something below:

"What is art? What makes something art versus a decoration?"
To me, art is a way to express yourself through many different ways. Music, photography, sculpture, painting, drawing, dance etc. are all ways to express yourself and portray yourself. With dance, different movements portray different meanings. With music, different sounds and ways you use your voice can tell something about you. With sculpture, painting, and drawing, different details and parts of the illustration can portray anything you want. You have complete freedom with art to express your and emotions feelings, to make a statement. Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.

CLAY ANIMAL HEAD
I learned that to make it, it had to be hollow, by making two pinch pots and pinching then together. A ventilation hole MUST be poked somewhere in the piece before it is fired, or else it will explode. I find this piece successful because as soon as you look at it, you can tell it is a cat. I regret spray painting the whiskers, I should have just left them plain.
Lidded Vessel
The thing that was the hardest was making the lid the right size to fit the vessel. I constantly had to re-shape both parts. It finally became functional after all the hard work. I made this out of a slab of clay and made two small pinch pots, stuck them together so that it would be hollow in the middle, molded it into a square and then cut the corner off.
Relief
This piece is an example of HIGH relief, where the sculpture projects at least half or more of its natural circumference from the background. This piece is successful because you can tell what animal it is...sort of. It's meant to be a centaur. I should have moved the human part of the body to the front of the horse's body. I also should have added more detail to the background, such as clouds of trees.
Figurative Project
Dwelling Project My dwelling is a winter log cabin made out of twigs and leaves from nature. I plan to add sugar or flour for snow to give it a real winter effect. |

FINAL PROJECT
I chose to make small jewelry pieces out of clay that you can actually wear. Glazing the pieces in a way that they wouldn't get stuck in the glaze kiln was my only issue, but thankfully, everything worked out.
Dwelling
For this project, I used twigs and branches from outside for the structure, and tree bark for the walls. I used cardboard as a base to support the structure. Clay didn't really contribute to this project so it wasn't really an issue that I could only use a limited usage of clay.
